Job Description

The Rational Tools Administrator will be responsible for successful growth and implementation of the Rational toolset into the product development processes within the organization. This includes the technical design, planning and deployment of the ClearQuest and ClearCase tools, and coordinating the testing and deployment of Rational Software's server component software upgrades to multiple Rational ClearQuest/ClearCase replicas distributed worldwide in support of the Division. This includes testing and deploying Rational server software, ClearQuest/ClearCase schema upgrades and supporting ClearCase UCM (Unified Change Management) integration with ClearQuest.

This administrator will be responsible for the successful implementation and run support of the production and test Rational server environments. The candidate will triage support calls and will work closely with the IT Development/DBA/Infrastructure/Software Engineering groups, BDS and Rational Software to troubleshoot incidents in the Rational tools space.

Daily Responsibilities

• Architect and Design the technical Rational tools deployments to support business growth and adaptability.
• Work closely with IT and Software Engineering to define comprehensive technical test plans to support project go-live in the Rational Tools space.
• Coordinate unit/system test and production deployment of schema upgrades and upgrades of Rational server software.
• Share 24/7 support for Rational production environments and work closely with IT and IBM/Rational to solve and determine root cause.
• Define support, workflow and administration processes for on-going operations and support of the Rational server software components.

Technical Environment

Rational ClearQuest and ClearCase Software (Desktop client, Server and web components), Solaris 2.8 (or later), Windows 2000 Server (or later), Windows IIS, and Oracle 9i (or later) and Microsoft applications (MS Project, Visio, and Word).
